A$AP Rocky Arrested For Alleged Shooting Incident, Spurring Memes And Calls To 'Free Rocky'

American rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested yesterday as he exited his private jet at the Los Angeles airport. Federal authorities said they had conducted the arrest because evidence linked A$AP Rocky to a November 2021 shooting. A$AP is accused of being part of a group of men that allegedly shot at another man “three or four times.”

Throughout the day and into this morning, fans across social media were shocked by the news as the story received widespread coverage and discussion on social media.


Similar to other incidents like this in the past, many online called for the release of A$AP Rocky, encouraging President Joe Biden to make it happen. In the summer of 2019, former President Donald Trump intervened to secure A$AP Rocky’s release from a prison in Sweden. Fans humorously threatened to vote Republican in the next election unless Biden intervened in this case.


At the time of the arrest, A$AP Rocky was on his way back from Barbados, where he was staying with his girlfriend Rihanna, who is pregnant with their first child.


Last week, purported accusations of infidelity were notably leveled against A$AP Rocky online, leading many to condemn the rapper for potentially cheating on Rihanna. Supporters of the couple were quick to condemn the condemners alongside the debate.


Some memers were quick to identify a potential culprit in Drake, who they accused of purportedly arranging the arrest of A$AP Rocky out of jealousy over the other rapper’s relationship with Rihanna, his ex-girlfriend and a frequent collaborator.


Thankfully for his fans, A$AP Rocky is free – at least temporarily – on a $550,000 bail, with a court date scheduled for August.
