Homophobic Milly Bobbie Brown Memes Resurface To The Exhaustion Of Those Who Never Thought They Were Funny
In late 2017, a series of bizarre memes set out to paint actress and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown as homophobic, Islamophobic and multiple other types of "-phobics," all without any basis in reality.
The meme, though "just a joke" according to some, involved making up stories about the then-13-year-old Brown and misattributing quotes to her that made her sound like a bigot. Eventually, she deleted her Twitter account and the moment went down as a shameful period in internet history in the eyes of many.
For whatever reason, it appears some memers have attempted to revive the homophobic Millie Bobby Brown meme on the back of Stranger Things season four and Pride Month. This time, however, many people seem to be very quick on stamping them out before they gain attention.
As of now, the only big tweet that seems to be attempting to revive "homophobic Millie Bobby Brown" is by user @edna_days, who posted a video from Stranger Things in which Brown's character Eleven looks at a children's picture that has a rainbow in it with tears in her eyes. @edna_days joked that the clip was of Brown crying upon looking at a symbol of gay pride. The clip has gained over 3.2 million views, but much of this seems to be from quote-tweets criticizing the joke.

It’s so weird. People always go “protect child stars” but when it comes to Millie Bobby Brown nobody gives a fuck. In 10 years god forbid she has a mental breakdown or worse people are gonna be like “man we treated her like shit.” Just like they did with Britney.

the way twitter talks about Millie Bobby Brown is so nasty I literally just know we're going to get public apologies 10 years from now when she's farther removed from this situation and starts talking about how badly everyone treated her

Public opinion seems to be firmly in Brown's camp this time around, and if the situation proves anything, it's that it's probably not a good idea to revive 5-year-old memes, particularly if those memes were at the expense of a minor.
