Because there are only fifteen pictures of her tops in the Monster Falls Tag Because l have never seen meta on her in the main tag once that was not about how she's "getting darker Because she looks like she's sixteen in Depravity Falls (give her a skirt and stop thinking "dark" as sexy she's twelve). Because some days the only art I find her in is when there's shipping afoot or she's with Dipper Because someone sent me an ask about her getting "permission from Dipper Because people place her on such a high pedestal that the "Shooting star may fall prophecy sounds more in line with the fandom than the show Because she could make one mistake and people point their fingers at her and shout about how she's such a "horrible person Because people judge her for having crushes is bad but think Dipper flirting with a bunch of girls is "charming Because people pay so much attention to Dipper they haven't realized that Mabel is showing signs of depression that has me bordering on legitimate concem for this child Because Mabel reminds me so much of myself when I was twelve Because she's a reflection on how I dealt with my mental illnesses until I was hospitalized when I was thirteen. Because she's bright and happy and thousands of layers deep but no one sees it. I defend Mabel Pines because she deserves it, because I'm sick of sexism Most of all, though, I defend her because she's twelve and if how this fandom treats Mabel is a reflection on how they would treat twelve year old girls in real life? Well, that's a problem

I made an account to complain about this, so listen up. Or don't, I'm a random guy on the internet, not a cop.

Mabel's not a terrible person, it's not horrible that she has a bunch of crushes, it's not a problem that she's always chipper and silly.

That doesn't mean she's interesting.

That's not to say that she's a bad character, but Dipper is a hell of a lot more palatable over any significant length of time. He's smart, sarcastic, heroic, and the dynamic between Mabel and him often revolves around 'Mabel wants A, Dipper has to sacrifice B so that Mabel can be happy'. And he does that. Repeatedly.

Dipper first and foremost wants to uncover mysteries and discover things and then he also has crushes. Mabel has crushes 100% of the time and then sometimes tags along with Dipper while Dipper does cool shit. When Dipper is studying the mysterious journal he just found, Mabel is chasing some random dude. When Dipper is attempting to crack open the mysterious laptop with vital information, Mabel is chasing some random dude. When Dipper has a chance to hang out with his own crush (in that one episode with the crazy pool guy), Mabel is chasing some random dude… and then forces Dipper to sacrifice his opportunity to be around Wendy so that she can get in good with the aforementioned random dude.
