I want to believe it's true, since I don't believe for two seconds Taiyang screwed both his female team mates, no man is that lucky. It would also explain why it was Qrow who taught Ruby how to fight with a scythe and saved her when her and Yang were surrounded by Grimm. Maybe he asked Taiyang to be the dad on paper to protect Ruby seeing as Qrow might have a lot of enemies that would exploit that weakness?
