Irony, Darwin was never a atheist.

But Again like everything here, it mostly seems a collection of unpopular opinions/ideas.

He was at least a /little/ atheist, in the same sense that I am, rather than an outright anti-theist in the mold of Dawkins or Hitchens.

"This claim seems increasingly dubious. There may well be a God or Gods, but it's increasingly clear that no humans are making accurate claims about them."

The trouble with the caricature of the fedora tipping militant internet atheist slob is that while 'atheism' is not, strictly speaking, a religious thing, there will always be people in any group who fail to examine their conceits critically and thus treat them as much as articles of faith as any theist.

One does not even have to be talking about gods.
