Y'shtola's too obvious, Yugiri has an almost permanent death flag on her, Cirina is Lord Hien's waifu, Krile would be creepy, we don't know if Alisae is of legal age and Minfilia is just the worst…..so it was Lyse or Merlwyb, and at least with Lyse I won't draw the perpetual Grand Company war into KYM.

Also, I couldn't use Hildibrand, the subtleties of his craft would be lost on everyone!
