Our war veterans fought only to have their efforts be shaded by the selfsame political divide they fought against, by the selfsame generation they had in mind to protect and give a better future for.

In hindsight, honorable death on the battlefield may not have been such a bad thing for them, after all. That would have been a better last view on humanity.
