I'm really sorry you guys. I love JoJo as much as you do, but….

He's definitely a bit edgy, but honestly most of the edge comes from his terrible game, and even then, only on the non-canon pathways. Outside of that, Shadow is a surprisingly well-rounded and likeable character. He compliments Sonic both before and after he teams up with him in Sonic Adventure 2, and he ends up working with G.U.N. in Sonic 06 even though they tried to kill him for something he didn't do in the previous game, so clearly he doesn't hold grudges or mind working with others. Also, from what I've seen, he's a cool character in the Archie comics too!

There was a time where the internet made me think, "Why did I ever like Shadow to begin with?" Then I replayed Sonic Adventure 2 and thought, "Oh yeah, that's why I like Shadow." Once you get past the surface-level edginess, he's actually a pretty fun character who is a good foil for Sonic without going too far in the opposite direction, in my opinion.

TL;DR: Shadow thw Hedgehog (the game) ruined Shadow the Hedgehog (the character). Even Sonic 06, for all its gruesome faults, got Shadow right as a character.
