On March 1st, 2025, comedian Dan Hentschel posted a photograph of himself standing in the middle of a desert with sand dunes in the background while wearing a striped headband and pouting. The post (shown below) received over 4,200 reposts and 76,000 likes on X^[1] in one day.

Spread

Starting on March 1st, 2025, users on X edited and captioned the photograph to reference various media. Within 10 minutes of the original post, X^[2] user @Shreglo made the earliest found edit of the image, a Guilty Gear meme that gained over 250 reposts and 2,700 likes in one day (shown below).

Later that day, X^[3] user @_sable_cat_ replied to the original post with an edit in which they gave Henschel blue eyes and filt-plugs, making a reference to Fremen in Dune. The post (shown below) received over 70 reposts and 2,200 likes in one day.
