It seems like there was an unscientific study showing that acceptance of homosexuality by heterosexuals was predominantly for the opposite gender. Eg. Straight girls tend to be okay with gay men while tending to silently judge lesbians. I believe it's more common with straight men to be at least apprehensive of gay men while being extremely positive about lesbians.

It may have just been anecdotes and confirmation bias though.
