I'm still waiting for the finale to be White Diamond getting poofed and then Ronaldo shows up out of nowhere and impales himself with her gem to become an evil human-gem halfbreed and fight Steven.

That's the true foreshadowing on display here.

It'll be kind of like Korra's second season with her uncle becoming a "Dark" Avatar. And just like in Korra, it will be really really terrible.
