I can see something like this being entirely ironic in it's presentation, with the same fanservice, violence and early-teenage 90's edginess Buffy had but in a cutesy artstyle.

Hell, Angel had an episode where he was a fucking MUPPET.

This looks… pretty good? Like, you can see thought and effort in this image and that it isn't just a recolored TCR template.

Should we really blame the artstyle or maybe the people who half-ass it in the worst possible way just because it's supposed to be simplified. The way I see it there is some potential in it. Should the artists give it a bit of personal touch here and there it wouldn't look so bland every time it's used.
