I was thinking about these Tex Avery "________ of Tomorrow" cartoons a while back and was trying to recall what came true and what didn't. Like I know one that came true was the part about electronic turn signals in cars (only you don't activate them through still doing hand gestures like in the old days). In the case of this gif it's like a two way joke. On one hand TVs didn't get more vertical, they went more horizontal, but on the other we're in an age where when people record stuff on their phones they rarely ever flip them to the side so it's almost like this cartoon predicted "vertical video syndrome."
