Masahiro Sakurai - When your character heavily revolves around her scantily clad outfit that it makes Bayo look PG-13

I actually respect Sakurai's approach to explaining Mai's exclusion as a stage cameo. He is basically saying "I really wanted to include her, but the CERO Japanese rating board is way too strict and we would have to raise the game's ratings for that. I can't do anything about it, I'm really sorry, people". He could have just not addressed it at all, but did so anyway for those who care. Mad props for that, and I understand, really. I sort of figured that Bayonetta was already at the upper limit of what they would allow in Smash on that regard, and even she is partially censored.

In fact, think about it this way: he could have included Mai if he censored her clothes enough, but chose not to. He included Blue Mary as a stage cameo and I quickly noticed that he kept her proportions 100% accurate, despite her boob size being a little out there for the game's ratings, but he pulled it off regardless. He could not do that for Mai, though. I can definitely respect the "let me include my art uncensored or I won't include it at all" approach at all times, as I also agree that, in most cases, no art is better than censored art, and stage cameos are no exception.
