Overview

Amouranth's Anti-LGBTQ Comment Controversy, also known as Amouranth Los Angeles Fire LGBTQIA+ Statement, refers to the online backlash toward Kick streamer Amouranth (real name Kaitlyn Siragusa) over statements she made about a group of LGBTQ+ community members during a livestream. In late February 2025, the streamer reacted to an Asmongold clip about a city council meeting showing queer activists discussing an upcoming project to make Worcester, Massachusetts a “Sanctuary City for Transgender and Gender Diverse People,” suggesting the LGBTQ+ activists shown in the video should have been living in LA as she played footage of the 2025 Los Angeles fires from a month prior. The clip drew outrage and debate regarding Amouranth's controversial comments as it spread online, with many accusing her of being homophobic and wishing harm on the activists.

Background

On February 13th, 2025, Kick^[5] streamer Amouranth reacted to a video during a livestream, which showed several LGBTQIA+ activists speaking at a city council meeting as they discussed an upcoming project to make Worcester, Massachusetts a sanctuary city for trans and gender-diverse people. As she began commenting over Asmongold's takes on the topic in the original clip, she played a video of the Los Angeles wildfires from January in response to a user in Asmongold's chat asking him what he would do with the activists.

On February 26th, X^[1] user @AndaPan57026236 then shared the clip from the livestream two weeks prior in which Amouranth made the comment (seen below), amassing over 10 million views and 9,200 likes in roughly a day as it began garnering attention online.

In a follow-up tweet^[6] from that same day, @AndaPan57026236 also claimed Amouranth had begun pivoting to conservative takes and content in recent months, stating:

"Months ago, she became an Asmongold 'watcher'. Her biggest hits include saying that Deportations are like evil people going to hell, trans people should not have access to HRT cos it's unnatural, being part of the de-platforming campaign, etc."

Amouranth's Response

Amid the negative response to her viral clip about LBTQ+ activists as it began to spread online, Amouranth posted a statement on X^[2] on February 26th, 2025, writing that she's not allowed "to question the behavior of 'activists' who threaten to incite violence against their own community," alleging she's "being accused of hating the group affiliation they happened to belong to." The post also features a clip from another queer activist from the city council meeting.

The X post (seen below) amassed over 1.8 million views, 4,200 likes and 1,000 replies in less than 24 hours.

The Amouranth drama inspired jokes, reactions and outrage online as it garnered virality in late February 2025.

For example, on February 26th, 2025, X^[3] user @theserfstv commented on the controversy, writing that it "is not only horrifying but deeply depressing considering the LGBTQ+ community consistently stood up for Amouranth" after she was harassed by "insecure men on the internet." The tweet (seen below) amassed over 48,000 likes and 2,600 reposts in a day.

On February 27th, 2025, Redditor^[4] u/Dazzling_Yak8399 uploaded a screenshot showing a tweet calling Amouranth a grifter to the /r/Asmongold subreddit, writing, "Twitter having a meltdown over Amouranth supporting asmons point." The post (seen below) received roughly 250 upvotes and 140 comments in a day.

Additional posts on subreddits such as /r/Hasan_Piker^[7] and /r/Destiny^[8] on February 26th, each receiving over 1,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments each within the following 24 hours.
