Look there's a lot of possible reasons. Jumping immediately to "It was the SJW's" without facts is stupidly common and never really questioned on KYM. The specific accusation was that California SJW's controlled a Texas corporation owned by a Japanese company (whose US holding company is based out of New York) seems dubious.

If the story is true though, I want to hear names.

California sorta had the title of fun police coming for a long time coming, though I agree that it's dubious that Sony would interfere. Most of the shit that Sony got was due to the playstation brand in terms of censoring some more ecchi japanese titles of late and people thinking that it coincides with the move to cali as PS's HQ. Though the different sections of Sony don't really interfere with each other, Sony also owns Aniplex, which owns FGO, which seems to do well in terms of being untouched with JP client.

Could just be funi being dumbasses and dropping it anyway without being forced by sony, because that's more conspiracy theory if anything. Really after stuff like Prison school's dub, dragon maid and others, it's not like funimation can't be dumbasses by their own admission rather than it being due to sony.
Plus why are we putting stock into some literal who's twitter post?
