Don't worry, Lewis, people like Screwtape.

Also Tolkein is a rich, deep vein of discourse when it comes to stuff like this. He truly believes things weren't allegorical in his writings, but given the distance of time some things really look like 1:1 ratios of the culture he was writing from. So to fully understand the breadth of the work, you must kill the author. There are allegories. However, to understand their significance of the allegories, you must bring the author back and consider their life.

Or you can just read the fun books about the stoner bros that save the world and not get sucked into the black hole of literary wank. I hear that kind of reading is much more fun

Tolkien:
Imagine a dot that says, "The point is here."
.
Everyone else, for some reason: (Draws loopedy-loops. Maybe some random box somewhere thats like, "lmao ORCS RAYCIST NURDS! big brain meme.")
.
Lewis:
Imagine a dotted line leading to a cross, you know for the kids, with an instruction like, "Follow line to cross (labeled Jesus)."
.
Somehow (westerner): (draws a line crossing through that dotted one. "Lion is Jesus? Really???" Maybe some random box somewhere thats like, "bUt wHat AbOuT sUsAN, SeKsIS!")
