From four years ago, sheesh. It's odd to think that journalists have gotten worse over time too. But they certainly have.

Even then, acknowledgment that you need to just be competent to talk about video games wouldn't change much. With how the journalist community repeatedly embarrasses itself over and over again, it's not changed anything. All these idiots do is blame the game itself or say that gamers are toxic and gatekeeping the medium.

It also doesn't really talk about the fact that being shitty at playing video games is only a part of the issue with game journalists. Since there's also the problem of these people being biased as fuck when it comes to certain games, when reviews are obviously influenced by monetary gain or they just gush over a shitty game because it presents itself as "artsy" or "progressive".

I mean, to be fair, I want my game journalists to be good enough to understand the game, but not so absolutely hardcore that their experience is divorced from the average player in the opposite way that is divorced in the present.
