The actual intelligent answer is that the brains of trans people are structurally-similar to the gender they say they are, opposite their body's sex. This is visually-verifiable on MRI. The fact that men and women have brains that are structurally-distinct is settled science. The only confusion is caused by academics who believe gender is a social construct, so they are trying to erase and replace real transgenderism with cosplayers, to preserve their unscientific dogma. The tiny fraction of actual trans patients are drowned out by a majority of fakers and dupes.
