Zecora was far from the only example of teaching kids about the virtues of diversity and inclusion in the show. Unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies used to hate one another prior to Equestria's formation. They learned to appreciate each other's differences rather than feel threatened by it, which allowed them to overcome the Windigos (or at least that's how the story goes). Hell, the whole theme of Starlight Glimmer's reformation was coming to realize that acceptance of other's differences was far better than forcing everyone to be the same. Lots of other villains and antagonists underwent similar redemption arcs throughout the show.

on the surface it really sounds terrible but after looking at the trailers and the character design it looks like a lot of creativity and hard work was put into this, so you should give it a chance

the fact that there are already tons of art works of the new characters before the movie is even out yet means its has to be doing something right
