That results in a lot of death, and they need to keep the meat grinder back. So they need 30K men a month to just keep up with the losses, and it takes months for the wounded to recover to fight again (if they're not just send back to the front to die). The reported average casualty ratio is 3:1, which is pretty bad. Russians face horrific losses when they're on the offensive, but Ukraine also faces losses when they attack as well so it evens out to 3:1. Slow moving helicopters are considered just as vulnerable as soft targets, it's possible for them to get shot down by tank guns if they fly too low and slow. Similar idea here, but between this and shooting down a ballistic missile with a MANPADS, I think Ukrainian FISTs are on a whole other level.
