2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine - Compensation for widows

So, I've just checked to see how much they earn a month to work out how much 10,000 Rubles is worth as compensation.

Now, if this man was a conscript, this is actually fairly decent compensation, as going by what I can find, the average conscript earns about 2000 a month, which means the compensation is worth about five months pay to his family to help keep them going whilst they make arrangements.

If they were a professional, contracted soldier, then receiving 10,000 Rubles compensation is an absolute fucking insult to the family, as they are receiving a 1/3 of a months wages in compensation; and that's only if he was on the base pay of around 30-40,000 Rubles a month.

Now, if he was an officer it'd be even more disgraceful, as they on average earn around 90,000 Rubles a month, which means the poor family has been left with a pair of boots and 1/6th of a months pay to get by.

A person who could do that to a grieving family and still be able to look themselves in the eye afterwards is not a person I would ever like to meet.

"Sorry your son died, here's $135."
