As a bit of a reminder, Ms. Pac-Man wasn't made by Namco, her game was technically an unauthorized conversion of existing Pac-Man machines that were made specifically for Midway. The rights for the character did revert to Namco in 1984 after Namco ended their contract with Midway, but royalties for the character were still held by the devs who originally made Ms Pac-Man (called GCC). However GCC basically made themselves enemies of Pac-Man fans when they partnered with the infamous AtGames for Ms. Pac-Man mini consoles in 2019, leading to a lawsuit from Bandai-Namco. While the results of the case have never been disclosed publicly, it's believed GCC sold all rights to Ms. Pac-Man to AtGames and now Bandai-Namco are fucking pissed, having to scrub all mention of the character from Pac-Man media.
