It was a sound that promised only misery. And it was coming for them. The people huddled together for warmth, trying to Ignored the sound of the wind. But it was impossible. It was like the sound was coming from inside their very souls. They knew what was coming. They knew that they were going to die. The wind howled louder and the snow fell faster. The temperature dropped so low that it felt like the very air was freezing. And then it hit them. The first gust of wind was like a knife, slicing through their skin. The second was like a fist, punching them in the gut. The third was like a hammer, crushing their bones. They tried to scream, but the wind stole their breath away. They tried to run, but the wind knocked them to the ground. They tried to fight, but the wind was too strong. And then it was over. The wind died down and the snow stopped falling. All was quiet. All was still. The people were gone. All that was left was a field of white.

The oathbreaking aside, the one thing that gets missed here is what Tywin, Jaime and the Lannisters did as a whole. The rest of the rebels had to fight a grueling war to get to King's Landing. Thousands knights, soldiers and common people lost family and loved ones in the battles that happened during the rebellion. But the Lannisters sat the whole war out. Betrayed and sacked a defenseless city, r---- and murdered thousands, murdered the king and murdered royal children. Jaime's actions were simply never disassociated from Tywin's. He was a Lannister and he contributed to the Lannister betrayal. No one knew Jaime killed Aerys to save the city. And no one knew it was his own decision. It basically looked like it was all coordinated between Tywin and Jaime and Jaime simply did his part. If you were a Targaryen loyalist, you were disgusted by the Lannisters. If you had fought in the rebellion and suffered, you were disgusted by the Lannisters. Ned's the perfect example here. Ned's hatred of Jaime is actually deeply rooted in seeing the dead Targaryen children, which traumatized Ned for the rest of his life. He saw the entire thing, the sack, Aerys being killed and the children being murdered as one. Just one giant and disgusting act of betrayal. Selmy thought the same, many others did too.
