It's more that conservatives love to see that era as the time where everything was fine and dandy and there were no problems until society became "woke" or something.

But it wasn't, in fact things were worse than they were now… abuse of children, physical and sexual was WAY more than now. People just didn't talk about it openly. Only now that it is being talked about could the issue actually be tackled and with it actually be reduced.

Additionally the extreme amount of PTSD among WW2 returners had quite a number of them unleash their trauma as violence upon their families.

Basically "everything was better in the 50s" is an illusion based on wilful ignorance of "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil".
