If Conservatives Met Jesus refers to a series of memes and recaptions inspired by Comedian Dan Hentschel's viral tweet in which he pretends to be Jesus Christ hanged in a tree by conservative people. The tweet sparked a debate on Twitter / X about religious intolerance and ironic memes labeling the tweet as dark humor.
Origin
On April 11th, 2025, American comedian and content creator Dan Hentschel posted[1] a photo of himself dressed as Jesus Christ hanging in a tree, captioning "If conservatives met Jesus." The tweet (seen below) amassed over 25 million views and 290,000 likes in three days.
Spread
Hentschel's controversial tweet immediately drew backlash and parodies on Twitter in the next few days. For instance, on April 13th,2025, X[2] user @velthisto posted two recaptions of Dan's post, replacing Jesus with "Muslims" and "Jews." The post (seen below) received more than 9,000 views and 259 likes in a day.
On April 11th, 2025, X[3] user @mcole173 replied to Hentschel's tweet, writing that "If modern day conservatives met Jesus they’d deport him because he’s brown." The tweet garnered over 3 million views and 174,000 likes in three days.
