Notes

Yes, this is from an official Japanese-only guide for A Link to the Past, or Tri-Force of the Gods as it's called in Japan. A major case of Early Installment Weirdness, the early Legend of Zelda games include references to Christianity, such as the Book of Magic from the original game was called 'Bible' in the Japanese version, cross are all over the place such as Link's shield, the Wizzrobes' robes, the desert palace in Link to the Past had a pentagram in the Japanese version, the Sanctuary where Zelda hides out for a majority of the game is clearly meant to a church and the Loyal Sage was meant to be a priest. Nintendo of America's guidelines against featuring any religious imagery forced them to remove most of the references to Christianity.

It's also very weird that Link to the Past would have Christian imagery, since it's the game that establishes the backstory of the Three Goddesses and all, which doesn't exactly gel with typical Christian or Catholic scripture.

Legend of Zelda never ceases to surprise us.
