Rollercoaster Tycoon can run on any machine is a fucking lie. That game chugged on most PCs. No minimum requirements? Go fuck yourself, here's a game that runs at 15FPS if you're lucky. Gaming PCs were just as expensive as they're now and many iconic titles pushed the hardware of yore to its limit or was poorly optimized back then. No shit game sizes were smaller back then, there was less space to work with. Having one or two games on one drive was sometimes enough to fill completely. There's a good reason games required frequent disk swapping.
Your view of 90's gaming comes from a perspective of what PCs can do now, not back then.
