TOTALLY, to the point special lights have to be used because these peckers will go like a shark at the sight of blood, said lights would fool the chicken into seeing fresh blood as not blood and significantly curb their attempts at pecking a chicken that just got hurt and they collectively think "it's not gonna make it". Birds are brutal, mothers will unceremoniously toss a chick that's too weak or too much of a troublemaker off the nest.

To the point that when I worked at a poultry processing farm, if a carcass wasn't 100%, it was diverted to a second line which would assess its problem and classify it as partial loss (cut the bad bits) or total loss via a panel with buttons to almost every imaginable ailment.

There was a dedicated button to "Cannibalism" and it counted as a total loss. Also, Arthritis 2.
