Possum Reviews @ReviewsPossum ⠀ If it's true that Christianity set the human race back by a thousand years during the Dark Ages, why didn't the civilizations not influenced by Christianity pull ahead by a thousand years during that time? I mean, if technology stagnated in Europe for a thousand years because of Christianity, then the rest of the world would have advanced a thousand years ahead of them in the absence of Christianity, right? If you were to argue, for example, that Europeans would have put a man on the moon in the 1400s had Christianity not taken over Europe, then surely, you have to believe some non-Christian civilization outside Europe would have put a man on the moon in the 1400s while European Christians were wallowing in ignorance. Unless, of course, you believe no other civilizations were making scientific discoveries during that time, which would make the idea that Christianity is singularly to blame for holding back humanity a very Eurocentric argument.
