That sounds like a Finnish name." Sure enough, it is. Apparently Frank Herbert got the name from seeing the name "Härkönen" in the phone book. It's apparently even canon (according to dune.fandom.com) that the name came from the Suomi region of ancient earth. To top it all off, how do they introduce Harkonnen in the new movie?
