Every factor in the decision, how she announced it, who was surprised, who wasn't surprised. I'm just so curious I don't mean to imply there's some deep, diabolical secret behind it (the Illuminati threatened her!). It's just, as of right now, it just seems like this terribly sad, vague event. So much of herself and her life went into it, and she left before Season 1 was done airing. To summarize it. She was separated from her team, making collaboration a disastrously difficult affair. Everyone was in Canada She was in LA. The only reason she stuck around for as long as she did was because of how much the project meant to her, but it was crippling to have that distance Secondly, she was losing creative control. As MLP became more and more successful, Hasbro got greedier and greedier, and started making bigger demands and relinquishing her of the freedom she used to exercise while first starting out. They were beginning to try and twist her childhood dreams and fantasties, things she owned since she was a child, into a beast that wasn't hers. And she couldn't handle that. (Ironically enough, as soon as she left, they suddenly had a change of heart and started giving the current team more freedom. It was strange.) Finally, right around the time she was entertaining the thought of leaving, she had overworked herself to physical illness. The extra amount of work she had just to get things through to Hasbro, plus the demands of working remotely from the rest of her team, meant she had to expend a lot of additional effort, and that was taking a huge toll on her physical and physiological well-bein All of these things combined just added up into what I can only imagine to be a huge table-flipping moment. Though Lauren is a sweetheart and nothing if not utterly well-mannered, I would be surprised if she didn't entertain the notion of upending various bits of furniture prior to making this decision Is this the full story? I doubt it. I'm sure there's so many hundreds of things that compounded this decision. But to me, this is already too much. Hasbro has been doing as much in its power as possible to distance itself from her legacy. Unless they have a change of heart--or unless Disney picks up Hasbro and makes an executive decision to bring Lauren back on board, which in itself is extraordinarily unlikely--it's probably never going to happen Based on what I know of Lauren's original vision, I can tell you right now that the series has been so drastically altered that it would be very difficult to simply "set it back on its course". Given the option, I imagine the only feasible course of action would be to reboot the entire series and decanonize everything past the wedding. In respect to the current writers, I won't be revealing any major details about what Lauren was planning to have happen, but the two storylines--Lauren's and Meghan's--can't be reconciled unless a lot of major things are retconned I'm sure that the current creative team occasionally takes what little they probably know of Lauren's ultimate ccou There are bits and piec of Lauren's vision scattered throughou ason 3, so I'm sure they're simply working with what they have. Despite that, I'm sure they're very much excited for the opportunity to take the series in a direction that make hav ense to them.
