Even if it's not a scam, it's blatant profiteering. A dating sim does not cost $7.5k to make.
Dating sims are a browser based game that need a few assets and some cheap writing.

Derpibooru community have looked at it, and they're pretty certain it's a scam.

As said here, 100+ hours play time is bloody optimistic, and then there's the hastily recoloured artwork from the artists, which means it's either art theft, or they're in on it.

If the game was mostly done, you'd think they wouldn't need to use recoloured commissions for promo art.
