On September 15, 2014, a rogue janitor took it upon himself to begin mass deleting and banning any and all discussion of #GamerGate on 4chan, especially the /v/ board. This has been met with sharp resistance from the board's users who have been spamming /v/ posts non stop, while the janitor has managed to maintain consciousness long enough to keep deleting them and banning the users posting them. This is a recent snapshot of 4chan's bans page, and as you can see most of the recent bans have been for GamerGate discussion. This is being done without forum founder Christopher "Moot" Poole's blessing, and he has been away at an internet culture convention and cannot intervene until he returns. There has been no official announcement from this rogue mod announcing any change in policy, which means innocent posters who are not aware of his current Social Justice crusade are being wrongfully banned when they don't see a GamerGate thread and try to create a new one, while other more aggressive anons are using dynamic IPs to avoid the banhammer and keep fighting until Moot returns.

Author has 304 answers and 740.1K answer views. 5y Not that I care that much either way, but it did expose a lot of corrupt game developers and game journalists. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address.
