Headline:
This manga-character strikes fear into the hearts of Nigerians

Synopsis: [...] In Nigeria, the rumor is spreading that Western countries are worshipping an Ebola demon and hating Africa.

Text body:
Currently there are theories spreading that the Ebola virus is a devilish invention of Western countries. Responsible for this is a drawn anthropomorphism of the virus, depicting her as a white woman clad in a nurse uniform, holding a skull from which blood flows out of its eye sockets. Her hair resembles a magnified picture of the virus. The name of the manga woman [yes, they do identify her as an adult]: Ebola-chan.
The picture first emerged during August on 4chan, claims the news portal Vocative. Next to the picture, it says: "You've been visited[...yada yada]" The picture found its way to the Nigerian forum Nairaland. A user posted: "There's a new culture of racism in Europe and the USA. They hate Africa. They pray to an Ebola demon they call Ebola-chan." Below that, the unknown user [oh boy, sure wonder where he's from] posted pictures which suggested an altar for Ebola-Chan. Especially in rural areas, the helpers in their blue overalls are regarded with suspicion. In Guinea, eight of them were even lynched by a mob of furious natives.
