Honestly, I've noticed that for the most part, the Captains are actually BETTER at fighting enemy Cpatains, and to an extent, enemy WARRIORS, than you are. At least when you aren't near them yourself.

I wouldn't go that far, but yeah, they're surprisingly competent. I had been told that the AI allies in Dynasty Warriors are usually just a meat wall between the enemy and your keeps. :P
