You guys can't quit now. You can't burn out now. Not because of some idiots on twitter. The games industry needs you. I know this sounds melodramatic, so let me put this into context. I'm a failed game dev. Worked for a now defunct game studio that made a bunch crappy movie tie ins. I guess it's no big loss. Worked my way in through QA, and tried working my way to being an artist. And they died big time. Checks started bouncing, and the owner still kept conning people saying "oh the next milestone we will pay everyone back". The f----- even raided the 401k for cash. Really shady s---. I was a sucker and kept going since I desperately want to get into game dev. F----- probably owed me $20,000 and more for the more experienced, well played devs. I was a sucker, so I don't blame anyone, and the f----- was at least arrested for taxfraud, so their is that. Anyways point of the story is one of my co-workers who got out said "oh yeah, stuff like this happens in the game industry all the time." And this guy had worked on big stuff like Twisted Metal." Given the s--- I saw my old boss pull, and the things tim/schafer say and do, it seems like bad business management is really common in the industry. And anybody remember rockstar wives/ EA wives? S--- like that was common at my job, and that co-worker said it's common throughout the industry, the studios and pubs just work hard to make sure it doesn't get out. And yet how many of these big site complaining about huge problems in the industry talk about devs NOT F------ GETTING PAID, and f------ crunchtime being borderline crimes against humanity? These f------ know about this s---, and they turn a blind eye, to focus on minor s---. (Fart to continue/John Galt steals s--- from 8chan) There were a fuckton of women at our studio. I think THEM NOT GETTING F------ PAID, is way more important then whatever evil stuff is supposedly happening to them in the industry (S--- ton of artists were women and most of the PR, management stuff were women. Though it's fair there were few women programmers, but they were there.) Granted this was about Five years before GG, but I can tell the spirit of fear in the industry has existed long before the SJWS took over, but it certainly couldn't have improved things. I want articles on this s---. I want sites, and journos to talk about it. I WANT it screamed at the rooftops You guys can't give up. You can't just pack it up, since some people on twitter are morons. There is too much at stake here. Like l said, I'm a nobody, and only had a minor posstion, but there are DECADES worth of problems in this industry and I don't think any them will ever be addressed until the game journos act like actual journos. That s--- with Journos burying a story about EA hacks since they didn't want to offend their friends? Would not surprise me at all that that's also what is happening with all the bad business practices You guys can't back down now. I'm just a nobody, and can't really speak for real devs, and l've just given up on my dream and settled for menial labor, but this industry needs help, and I think you guys might be the seeds of something that could help. I can understand getting discouraged, but don't give up. I guess I need to go to bed soon, and probably take vidya breaks

Author has 304 answers and 740.1K answer views. 5y Not that I care that much either way, but it did expose a lot of corrupt game developers and game journalists. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address.
