You're right. It would be pathetic for a US president o spend so much time arguing with a regular citizen. Of course, Trump isn't a regular citizen, now is he? He's a billionaire who managed to secure one of the major parties' nominations and is running a campaign to take over President Obama's position. Obama's successor could be a woefully unqualified bigot and possible sexual predator who has demonstrated a severe lack of self control and irresponsibility. Given that one of the duties of the President is to protect the nation from all threats, foreign and domestic, he likely feels it is his duty to dissuade voters from electing an orange turd to the highest office of the land.
