____ drops by Squidward’s house, or X drops by Squidward’s house, is a YouTube fad originating from a clip from the Nickelodeon children’s show, SpongeBob Squarepants. The episode it is from is episode 63, Have You Seen This Snail? (a.k.a. Where’s Gary?).

In the original episode, Spongebob and his friend, Patrick Star, are searching for Spongebob’s pet snail, Gary, who has run off. It’s been hours since he disappeared, and they’re now walking through their neighborhood, calling out for him. Squidward, Spongebob and Patrick’s neighbor, is taking a bubble bath and hears the two yelling. He sticks his head out the window and says to himself, “What are those Neanderthals up to?! Don’t they know I’m busy spoiling myself?” Spongebob and Patrick then barge into Squidward’s bathroom, scaring him. Upon their entry, Squidward begins screaming.

In the edited versions, Squidward is seen taking a bubble bath and looking out his window. He brings his head back in from the window and says to himself, “Don’t they know I’m--”, but then sees whatever has shown up in his bathroom and begins screaming.

Origin

The earliest any video of the fad was posted was on October 25, 2009. However several early examples were added to YouTube on that day, including this one, called Weegee drops by Skwid’s house. It now has over 79,000 views on YouTube. The poster of this video claims in the description that they were the originator of this fad. In the description of the video, they also link to a KYM entry for the fad. (The original submission was not written by RAVAGE656 and was deadpooled; this is the previous entry RAVAGE656 linked to.)

Derivatives

The poster of the video above also uploaded this template video, entitled WTF Squidward!?, on 10/25/09. It, so far, has over 39,000 views.

Another video added on 10/25/09 was Swordbladepirate’s Moar Krabs drops by Squidward’s house. It currently has 72,000+ views.

Also added on 10/25/09 was Fillmore Drops by Squidward’s House by AtomicBaby123 , and it now has over 20,000 views.

This example, blahblahblehblehbleh’s What happens when Weegee and Malleo visit Squidward, was uploaded nearly a month after the above four, and it appears to be the most popular example to date, already garnering over 186,000 views.
