About
Alchemy is an influential philosophical tradition that was father to modern chemistry. Alchemists would attempt to combined various elements in attempt to create Gold, or an object that could easily turn other objects into it such as the Philosophers Stone.
Origin
It is hard to pin the exact origin, but it is shown that Alchemy dates all the way back to the Greco-Roman Egypt times.
Spread
The art of alchemy spread from Egypt to Europe though Islam, when in February 11, 1144, the Islamic book Book of the Composition of Alchemy was translated by Robert of Chester.
There it stuck, eventually getting banned due to all the fake philosophers stones that where created, and eventually losing it's Spiritual and Supernatural connection to become Modern Chemistry.
