About

I'm Hungry (Japanese: おなかすいた; Onakasuita) is a song written by a famous Vocaloid composer Lamaze-P (ラマーズP).[1] The cute music video for this song has been set for a subject for hand-drawn animated videos on the Japanese video sharing service Nico Nico Douga (NND).

Origin

The song "I'm hungry" was uploaded to NND on February 2nd, 2010. Different from his previous works that featured UTAU or Vocaloids, this song, just repeating the phrase "I'm hungry", was sung by a female utaite[2] or NND singer Hachimitsu Inu (はちみつ犬; lit. Honey Dog).[3] And as same as his previous works "Get Down" and "Fukkireta", the video for this song is a simple loop animation made by the creator himself.

Spread

This Lamaze-P's song quickly spread on NND as well as his other works. Moreover, some people inspired by the video began reproducing it by their own rendition partly due to its quit convenient editing style that required only 3 frames for reproductions. One of the triggers of this hand-drawn animation fad was Touhou Project character Sakuya Izayoi's version that was posted to NND on the same date as the original video uploading.

About 100 of videos in this series had been posted to NND in its first month and the amount of those videos has been still increasing gradually.[4]

Notable Examples

Left: Sung by famous utaite Soraru (そらる) | Right: Reisen Udongein Inaba from Touhou Project

Left: Creeparka | Right: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
