The SEGA of Japan NFT controversy refers to a tweet by SEGA of japan announcing that they will be partnering with Double Jump .Tokyo in producing NFTs for their ips. This received wide spread backlash from the Sonic the hedgehog fanbase on Twitter.

Fans on Twitter pointed out SEGA of Japan's hypocrisy. Some pointed that the western branchs have tweeted about earth day and going green within the same week,
