About
BREAKING: Jake Paul Has Challenged or Jake Paul's Next Fight refers to a phrasal template meme that emerged to undermine YouTuber and amateur boxer Jake Paul's victory in his boxing match with the significantly older Mike Tyson by comically suggesting Paul's next fight will be with someone either real or fictional who is either much older or younger than Paul, as well as some that are dead like Muhammad Ali. The parody meme echoes criticisms of Paul, implying that his success in his boxing career has come from stunt fights against stars from other combat sports or retired boxers instead of modern boxers.
Origin
Late in the evening on November 15th, 2024, Jake Paul defeated the 58-year-old Mike Tyson in their much-hyped boxing match on Netflix, and many onlookers felt that Tyson was too old to contend with Paul.[1] After the fight, a snowclone meme emerged poking fun at Paul's choice of opponents, suggesting his next challenger would be someone even older than Tyson.
At 12:30 a.m. EST on November 16th, Twitter / X user @greg16676935420[2] posted a joke that Paul had issued a challenge to former President Jimmy Carter, who is 100 years old. The joke set the template for the meme and gained over 31,000 retweets and 424,000 likes in two days.

Spread
The meme spread quickly on Twitter, Reddit and various social media platforms over the following two days, as other users substituted Jimmy Carter with other characters or people, both real and fictional, who have a significant age gap from Jake Paul.
For example, later on November 16th, 2024, Twitter user @KemenperinRI[3] made the joke using former Indonesian Vice President Mu'raf Amin, gaining over 8,400 retweets and 37,000 likes in two days.

On the same day, Twitter user @buckfastbadlad[4] posted a joke that Paul would fight deceased British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, gaining over 1,500 retweets and 37,000 likes in two days.

Also on November 16th, 2024, Redditor SmartEpicness posted an example to the subreddit /r/dankmemes[5] depicting deceased legendary boxer Muhammad Ali using the format, receiving over 620 upvotes and 10 comments in two days.
