Was 'The Rizzler' Born On The Same Day 'Lil Peep' Died? The Viral Reincarnation Meme Explained
Every November 15th since 2017, fans of the highly influential rapper Lil Peep mourn his untimely passing.
But now, in the wake of The Rizzler's massive virality, one X poster is going viral after claiming that The Rizzler was born on the same day that Lil Peep died, suggesting The Rizzler might be his reincarnation.
So where did this theory come from, how did it spread and is there any truth to it? Here's what you need to know.
Who Are Lil Peep And The Rizzler?
Lil Peep, real name Gustav Elijah Åhr, was a highly influential underground rapper known for his unique blend of emo and hip-hop music. He rose to fame as a SoundCloud rapper between 2015 and 2016 with the release of five mixtapes before hitting it big with his debut album, Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1.
On November 15th, 2017, he died of a fentanyl and Xanax overdose.
The Rizzler, real name Christian Joseph, is an eight-year-old boy who went viral in 2024 after appearing in several TikTok videos with the Costco guys. Mostly, The Rizzler is known for his rizz face, which sees him pull in his cheeks, raise an eyebrow and stroke his jaw. His fame has garnered him millions of fans, an appearance on The Tonight Show and numerous viral videos.
Was The Rizzler Born On The Day Lil Peep Died?
A day after the seventh anniversary of Lil Peep's death, X user @therealugs, aka Underground Sound, made a post claiming that The Rizzler was born on the same day Lil Peep died. The post includes a photo of Lil Peep alongside two supposed screenshots from Google, which seem to back up the claim.
The post gained over 13,000 likes in two days and the claim was reposted several times online, including by Instagram page hyperpopdaily and to the /r/LilPeep subreddit, gaining an additional 7,900 likes on the former.
Despite the spread of the post, the claim that Lil Peep's passing and The Rizzler's birth coincide is false. Lil Peep died on November 15th, 2017 and The Rizzler was born on April 19th, 2016.
As proof of this, we can look to The Rizzler's Instagram post on April 19th, 2024, where his dad posted a photograph of him celebrating his eighth birthday. The post by @therealugs is nothing more than a meme, following the format of other "died, born, welcome back" memes, which were first popularized online in late 2023.
