The Ministry of Silly Walks

Silly Walks are a compilation of walks that are performed within a strange, weird and "silly" way that allows others to view it in a humorous fashion. This was first noticed within the Monty Python show performed by John Cleese which was viewed in a universal positive response upon other resulting in parodies

Origin

The sketch was shown within British television on the Monty Phython episode '"Face the Press" which first aired in 1970

Spread

In 2005, the sketch was chosen by a poll taken in Britain as the 15th greatest comedy sketch of all time (and one of 5 Monty Python sketches in the top 50)

A live production was also performed within the 'Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl'

A Silly Walk generator was also created as a flash with allows users to create their own silly walks using a numerous amount of screen shots which when animated create a moving picture to the user.

Due to back problems and other spinal injuries, John announced that he could not perform the Silly Walk routine due to pain.

As the years went by amid repeated requests to do the sketch, Cleese found it increasingly difficult to perform these walks. He'd say, when told about a new Python Tour, "I'm not doing silly walks."
