Imagine if you were a human in the Splatoon universe that got successfully frozen and thawed out. You wake up, surrounded by strange creatures that are sort of human but not quite.

But they are friendly and eventually either you learn their language or one of them learns yours.

And with the language barrier broken, they have so many questions they want to ask of you, so much they can learn from the past. It matters not if you were a scholar or not; just being here helps them piece together that much of the puzzle of the past.

And the first thing they ask you is to explain memes to them.
