For me, its:

"Hmm, my PC is running a bit slower than normal. There must be a something running that's going a bit mental. Let's check the Task Manager…"

I check and suddenly all the programs are running normal and the PC starts running fine again. It's like the offending program hides.

You could've said "Fear will keep the system in line".
