Daffy Duck Listing Villains refers to a clip from the 1946 Looney Tunes cartoon The Great Piggy Bank Robbery in which protagonist Daffy Duck, who is daydreaming about himself as detective Duck Twacy, encounters a group of gangsters in their den and lists their names: Snake Eyes, 88 Teeth, Hammerhead, etc. In April 2024, the clip resurfaced and gained virality as a caption meme format on X / Twitter, with the villain roaster later being used in other memes.
History
On June 20th, 1946, the theatrical cartoon The Great Piggy Bank Robbery of Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes franchise premiered.[1] In the cartoon, protagonist Daffy Duck daydreams about being the genius detective Duck Twacy who is investigating a case of stolen piggy banks. In one scene, Duck Twacy finds a group of gangsters responsible for the crime and shouts out all of their names in succession (scene shown below).

On January 26th, 2012, Tumblr[2] user yazzydream posted GIFs of nine out of 11 villains, with the post accumulating over 580 likes and reblogs in 12 years (shown below, left). On June 30th, Tumblr[3] user colerothacker posted images of all villains except Wolfman, with the post garnering over 16,000 likes and reblogs in the same period (shown below, right).
On April 30th, 2024, X[4] / Twitter user @TheCow92230608 posted a 21-second-long clip of Daffy Duck shouting out villain's names, captioning it, "I like when I'm watching a drama YouTube video and they start listing names like this." The post (shown below) garnered over 3,000 reposts and 30,000 likes in one week.

The meme was followed by more video caption memes using the clip posted by other users. On April 30th, 2024, X[5] user @cosm0cube posted an edited version of the clip captioned it, "Me when I get the disease that makes me call everybody Batman." The post (shown below) garnered over 900 reposts and 5,700 likes in one week.

Later on April 30th, X[6] user @spooprr posted the unedited clip with the caption, "youtubers at the end of their videos listing their patreon members." The meme garnered over 3,800 reposts and 27,000 likes in one week (shown below).

In addition to video caption memes, other memes based on the villain roster from the clip were circulated in early May 2024. For example, on May 3rd, 2024, X[7] user @Swag_K1RBY posted an image of all 11 villains in the scene, writing, "ALRIGHT GUYS WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE??" (shown below, left). The post gained over 2,400 reposts and 25,000 likes in three days.

Batman: Brave and the Bold
The scene is referenced in the 2009 episode Legends of the Dark Mite of the animated series Batman: the Brave and the Bold. In the episode, Bat-Mite, Batman's fan from the Fifth Dimension, hallucinates villains and shouts out their names (clip shown below).
