So vou have decided to watch My Little Pony. Let me be the first to welcome you to the herd, because for whatever personal reason, you've decided to watch My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and that's why you're seeing this image. We get threads like this on an almost hourly basis asking about where to start or why we all love it, so hopefully this macro can answer some of those questions. Before you decide to jump on in, it should be said that this show isn't for everyone, there's a chance you might hate it, but there's also a chance that you'll love it through and through, either way, we here at /mlp/ appreciate you giving it a shot. Can't knock something you haven't tried, right? Starting Points The Fandom Here's where s--- gets weird. MLP has an absolutely HUGE fanbase, made up of everything from regular Joe's to toy-collecting cosplayers, so there are a lot of things you may see/hear that are major personal turn-offs. For right now, all you need to know about the fandom is that we are here to "love and tolerate" your opinion of the show, however you may make it. Where can I find all the episodes? The most accessible route is to find them on YouTube just search "MLP FiM S# E#" and find the ~22min results. If torrenting is your style, any torrent search engine will find you full episodes, either standalone or complilations For those with Netflix, recently the entire first season was added to their "Watch Instantly" library Why is there such a huge fanbase? Lastly, you could watch them on TV... but who sits through commercials and lets the channel decide what episode you're watching? First of all, watch the show and you'll probably understand. That's why you're reading this in the first place, right? MLP provides a younger audience with "important life lessons" and slapstick humor, but the developers have inserted tropes, parodies and jokes aimed towards a more mature audience, making it entertaining for an older crowd What episode should I start on? Start at the beginning. "Why?" You'll get the character introductions that the writers intended. Diving straight into a later episode where you have no idea who's who can be a bit overwhelming, and you'll miss certain elements written into the show. You'll enjoy the "best episodes" all the more for waiting High Quality animation and voice acting abound in MLP, many fans are attracted because of this, which stems from the fact that a lot of the staff that worked on old Cartoon Network is currently a part of the studio producing MLP Of course, there's always the bandwagon mentality once MLP became popular on the internet, people jumped right into the bandwagon and found they actually liked the show "But So-and-So said start with episode #x !! !11" Then start with that one, but be warned that there's usually a shitstorm of arguing over which episode is best for new viewers. Either way, each episode is only 22 minutes of runtime you can zip through 5 episodes in the time you'd spend watching 1 full-length movie

Very good summary!
I especially agree with starting at the pilot.
It's the perfect way to learn who the characters are.
I immediately fell in love (figuratively) with Fluttershy when she could barely say her own name.
