Indeed, had it been properly executed the Anakin/Vadar character arc would have made a fantastic story.

thanks to Episode 1 i can't help but fucking hate Anakin kid, that movie is just horrible memories of high pitched dialogs and jarjar binks, it's all i remember i swear and it's a shame because Dart Vader/Anaking Skywalker is such a complex character, is like if despite being the worst thing of his life it would be also the best it could happen to Anakin, becoming Dart Vader because it completely kills all these whiny yelling personalities he had as Anakin.
